Recently I’ve purchased this interesting dvd Contacts, Vol. 2: The Renewal of Contemporary Photography. It’s the 2nd out of a series of 3 dvds, based on an idea by William Klein (directed Vol.1), which is a collection of short films about some of the leading names in contemporary photography. The photographers give commentary while going through their work, offering some insight particularly into the thought and selection process behind their work.
Though I find some of the photographers have a more interesting story to tell than others, the fact remains that this is a rare and fascinating view into an artist’s edit process which often remains hidden, while being so crucial to the final work.
