Finally, I’ve managed to grab the Fuji X100 from a recent stock. I think some of you know how hard it is to get hold of this jam of a camera, since the imports from Japan are seldom and few — and the ones that arrive sell like cup-cakes! So it was a beautiful day out and I decided to take it for a spin. Only the body this time, without the external

The Vondelpark (Vondel Park) is the most central and one of the prettiest public parks in Amsterdam — even more so after the recent renovations. During the spring in warm sunny days, it’s hard not to find the park (overly) populated with people enjoying the fresh air. But I grabbed my T2 and managed to take these recent pictures in early morning

Amsterdam, the Dam — 16 April 2011. The City participated in the national protest/manifestation against Nuclear Energy. Many Amsterdam residents and people from neighbor cities gathered at the central Dam square to join the word and shout to the Government to stop the plans for new Nuclear Energy Plants. This was hardly the type of event we use to know from 15-20 years ago were images of people protesting in the streets and violent rallies breaking loose between the Police and the demonstrators, were marked in everyone’s memory.

Yesterday, as you probably know, was the Worldcup final between Holland and Spain. A very important game for Holland and the first WK final since 32 years! Museumplein (Museum Square) is the central place in Amsterdam if you want to watch the game in the outdoors among oh couple of thousands of football supporters. A bit intimidating for me, but I went to check it out and this is my impression of the day.
Quite a lot of photos for this rather “tight edit”, so enjoy.

Walking down the street towards the Utrecht city center while taking the first pictures with my Leica, I noticed him standing there taking his shirt and shoes off. Other pedestrians were trying their best to ignore him. Trying. In fact he was taking several shirts off, adapting to the hot weather. I thought – it is what it is – and continued walking to the city center.
On the way back taking the same road, I saw him sitting there. The sun shined a bit further away from him and he looked like an overthrown King, tall and skinny, resting on that bench with still dignity in his eyes and yes… very capable. I walked pass him and paused, hesitating if I should go back and ask. And what should I ask? Finally I did, and with a soft voice he answered.. “Yes. Sure.”

A short film I made just recently. Compiled and edited to the song “The Impossible Dream” by Jack Jones using archival footage from the wonderfully interesting documentary films by Michael Lawrence.

Somewhere between the day to day life’s responsibilities I’ve been working on and shooting new material for the “Rejected” series and for unpublished new series that are still in development. At some point, after closer edit, I’ll be adding new material to my portfolio. Watch this space!
